Ford India post record sales in 2010

Ford India, the wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, is on a roll. It has achieved a record sale of 83,887 units from January and December 2010.
This was confirmed by Anurag Mehrotra, Vice President-Marketing Ford India Private Limited, who said �from Jan to Dec 2010, the company sold 83,887 units and nearly tripled its sales volume against a total of 29,488 cars sold in 2009′.
The year-on-year sales were up by 172 per cent in December 2010 compared to December 2009. Ford India, which has been expanding its sales and service network across the country, has increased to over 170 across over 100 cities in the country.
Much of the Ford India sales came from Ford Figo which already has won several industry awards �Indian car of the Year award (ICOTY 2011), Bloomberg Autocar India Car of the Year and ET ZigWheels Car of the Year 2010 among many other awards.
Mr. Anurag Mehrotra also said that the year 2010 had been an outstanding year for Ford in India with nearly triple digit growth rates and also added that Ford recorded an impressive annual sales increase of 184 percent in 2010. He stated that Ford India which exports the Ford Figo to countries like South Africa and Nepal also plans to export it to another 48 countries.
