Recommendation to Chennai Corporation: set up separate walk-paths for cell-phone users!

A recommendation has been Chennai Metropolis Corporation to set up separate path walks or pavements for cell-phone users who indulge in sending sms or playing games in their cell-phones. Such arrangements are already in use in countries like Belgium & China.
With the phenomenal increase of cell-phone usage among the public, the tendency to use them for WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, & SMS while walking is also on the rise!
This has resulted in more accidents in recent times.Following this, a strong recommendation has been made to Chennai Corporation to set up a separate walk-path - �text-walking-lane�!!
A corporation official explained that consultation has already commenced whether to increase the width of the of the roads which are newly laid to include �Text-walking-lane�. This may not cost much. Recommendations have been submitted to the collector about this.
Such a facility is available in Washington DC and xining city in China. It is notable that xining, a sister city of Chennai, has already signed an understanding with Chennai Corporation.
