Preethi creates Awareness On Road Safety

With the growing instances of road accidents worldwide, road safety has become a prominent necessity today. Over 1.2 million individuals are killed in road accident related fatalities across the globe each year.
Today, India has the worst road traffic accident rate in the world. The death toll rose to 14 per hour in 2009 and the total number of deaths every year in India due to road accidents has now passed the 135,000 mark. Road safety has become a priority in India and the country with world’s second largest extensive road networks and increasing number of national and state highways has made certain road safety measures mandatory.
Even so, not enough is being done to promote safe driving & riding practices, especially in developing states like Tamil Nadu where road accident fatalities are amongst the highest in the country. Preethi, an iconic Chennai, brand renowned for its wide range of high quality products that adhere to strict customer safety standards, has channeled its efforts as a responsible corporate citizen to promote road safety, through a Safety Ride Program.
Mr. T.T Varadarajan, Managing Director, Maya Appliances(Preethi-India’s largest Mixer Grinder brand ), and a team of motorcycle enthusiasts from New Zealand are embarking on a biking tour across South India. The tour begins in Chennai on 30th Dec 2010 and will progress through various cities in TN, Kerela and Karnataka till 21st January 2011.
