Emirates restructures operations in South India

Emirates Airline, Dubai based international carrier recently announced the appointment of Sudhir Sukumaran as the Regional Manager for South India. In his new role, he will be responsible for Emirates operations in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.

Emirates operates 78 weekly flights out of these three states from five stations namely Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi, Trivandrum and Kozhikode connecting Dubai and destinations beyond. 

Mr. Sukumaran, who, until recently headed the Sales and C, will oversee the Airport, Cargo, Engineering as well as Commercial Operations of Emirates in South India. This restructuring is expected to support Emirates growing India operations and help consolidate its leadership position in India. Mr. Sukumaran will continue to be based in Chennai.

Speaking about the appointment, Mr. Orhan Abbas, Emirates Vice President, India & Nepal, said, "Sudhir is an integral member of the Emirates India team and has a keen understanding of the market. Additionally, hes well-versed with the South Indian market, which is an added advantage. His focussed approach and dedication has grown our business in Tamil Nadu very efficiently in the past few years and in his new role we endeavour to achieve greater success from the region."

Mr. Sukumaran carries a wealth of experience having worked in the aviation industry for over 15 years and has been associated with Emirates Airline since the year 2000. As the Sales Manager for Tamil Nadu, Sudhirs excellent leadership saw a significant boost in the airlines operations from Chennai, which led to Emirates adding capacity into Chennai from four flights a week to 21 flights weekly.

Emirates operates 184 flights per week from 10 destinations in India including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata, Kozhikode and Kochi.
