National Small Industries Corporation , Government of India Enterprise, and TANSTIA, the apex body of all associations in Tamilnadu, representing the interests of 10,00,000 MSMEs in Tamilnadu are jointly organising the first ever exhibition in sourcing and manufacturing. SOUMEX 2010 aims to show case the capabilities and capacities of MSMEs in Tamilnadu to meet the ever increasing requirements of various manufacturing sectors particularly auto majors and Tier I suppliers to auto majors.
Chennai is the chosen destination for a quite few leading auto companies and has always been known as the Detroit of India. The presence and the on going expansion of these auto majors besides the setting of new auto majors has triggered a good business potential for all the auto ancillary companies. While the major requirements of these auto majors are met by the Tier I, II & III companies, these companies in turn source their requirements from a host of micro, small and medium enterprises.
Many Tier I , II & III companies are still looking for reliable vendors who have different capabilities and capacities. Hence the theme of the expo has been identified as “ Sourcing and Manufacturing” SOUMEX 2010, not only is expected to create new business opportunities for MSMEs , it will also help the MSMEs to raise their bar in excellence , embrace new technologies and adopt lean manufacturing practices.
The exhibitors include aspiring vendors largely MSMEs and sourcing companies from auto ancillary and other Public Sector Undertakings like BHEL, Heavy Vehicles Factory, Railways, ICF etc.
SOUMEX 2010 will attract almost all the sourcing companies including automobiles and ancillary manufacturers and aspiring vendors who are not exhibiting their products and services. In short SOUMEX 2010 will be the converging platform for vendors and sourcing companies.
The five days (Dec 15 - 19) expo is jointly organized by NSIC and TANSTIA and is in line with the objective of NSIC – facilitating the MSMEs to upgrade their skills and expand their business horizons.
