GLOBAL CONFERENCE ON BANANA IN TIRUCHI

Four-day Global Conference on Banana has been currently underway in Tiruchi. The exhibition was aimed to serve as one stop scientific information and agricultural practices for the Horticulture farmers who have eye for technology.
Huge bunches stand nearly six feet in height and weigh 81 and 83 kg respectively, grown by G.Nathar Meeran, a progressive farmer and agro entrepreneur from Theni, were a big attraction.
The exhibition offers rich and diverse information covering various aspects of Banana cultivation, including micro irrigation systems, post harvest handling, storage and value added products derived from banana.
Machines for producing banana value added products including banana fiber extractor are also on display by research institutions and voluntary organizations.
Banana, the exhibition also provides an overview of the latest technological advances and scientific inputs on several other horticulture crops too.
The exhibition will be open till Monday at Hotel Sangam, the venue of the conference, in the city.
