Do you want to surrender subsidized LPG: Send an SMS

Posted on: 14/Apr/2015 1:01:12 PM
An SMS scheme has been introduced for the well of people who want to surrender subsidized LPG. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged more people to come forward and buy gas at the market price to ensure such benefits reach only the poor. Around 3.5 lakh well-off people have given up subsidized LPGs.

Opting for subsidized LPG gas connections would only put an additional load on the Government’s subsidy bill, which crossed almost Rs 40,000 in 2013-2014. In order to recover the costs, the Prime Ministers GiveItUp campaign urges you to give up your LPG subsidy if you can afford it. If you do, your additional amount can add to the development of India, where it is highly required.

If about one crore affluent consumers across the country presently availing subsidized LPG from State-run Oil Marketing Companies give up subsidy, there is a potential to save approximately Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,500 crore.

For those who want to surrender, they can SMS to the oil companies as under:

GIVEITUP to 81307 92899 for Indane
GIVEITUP to 77382 99899 for Bharath gas
GIVEITUP to 97668 99899 for HP
