University Grants Commission to facilitate students

Posted on: 14/Apr/2015 12:37:54 PM
A new standard guideline is formulated by the University Grants Commission (UGC) which can be used in colleges and institutions across the nation. These are meant for 19 BA and B.Sc courses.

This system of choice based credit sharing (CBCS) is introduced with the aim of easing the process of transferring students across Indian universities and abroad. This will break the difficulties with conversion of marks or disparity with the scoring system in various universities. In CBSC, students are free to choose their course from core, elective, soft skill or elective. They can choose the one they prefer and study from their preferred place. They are also free to take up additional courses and have an interactive approach in their academics.

Stating about this move, UGC says all necessary measures are being done to bring betterment in higher education system. Owing to variations in evaluation system with various universities, students find it tough to follow with the credentials across different universities and also with employment agencies.

As a move to streamline this and standardize the procedure, a new uniform credit system is proposed. With this, the students’ credit can be transferred which will be of help in migrating from one college to other.
