Chennai city to have increased non-motorized transportation methods

Soon Chennai Corporation will make the system of dedicated cycle tracks and parking management system available so as to promote non-motorized transportation in the city. Budget for the required proposal will be implemented by making partnership in private and public modes. Further to reviewing 165 pending projects, the civic body is all set to fasten the process of civic infrastructure works. Officials say the work will begin by December.
Promotion of this non-motorized transport will be encourage and expedited by the Tamil Nadu infrastructure. On implementing this system, the entire city will get linked through a perfect link of bicycle docking stations. It will then be possible to station at least 3000 bicycles in over 200 places. Users can pay fee and obtain a smart card using which their bicycles can be accessed. These docking stations will be located in close proximities to places like Thousand lights, Egmore, Royapettah, Kamarajar Salai, Mylapore, Fort complex and other government offices.
