CORPORATION SCHOOLS TO INTORDUCE ABACUS METHOD OF TEACHING

M Subramanian, the Mayor, Chennai Corporation launched Abacus of Method of teaching at at primary schools in Manthope in Saidapet and Tiruvottiyur High Road in north Chennai. This is in a bid to modernize the teaching in Corporation School. The teachers will also be trained on Abacus method of teaching. The Mayor in his speech to the media said that it was long term strategy aimed preparing the students to compete for entrance exams to institutes of excellence such as IITs.
According the Mayor the corporation would be launching many programmes to coach students to write IIT entrance examinations in Chennai Girls HSS in Nungambakkam on December 6; training for post-graduate teachers in the field of computer science, physics, chemistry and maths will begin at IIT-Madras on December 18; and geometry boxes will be distributed to 51,000 students of Chennai high and higher secondary schools on December 23.
Congratulations to the Mayor for trying to take the level of corporation schools to a new height.
