Director of Medical Education Dr S Geethalakshmi has mentioned that B Sc Ophthalmology will be introduced in the year 2015-16 at The Regional Institute of Ophthalmology and Government Ophthalmic Hospital
Former Government Eye Ophthalmology students union celebrated the World Ophthalmology Day at Ethiraj College on 23rd March.
Dr S Geethalakshmi speaking on this occasion said, � New technology for eye treatment has come up in recent times. At the same time it is also necessary that new courses are to be introduced to cope with the latest technology. At the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology and Government Ophthalmic Hospital there is two years course in Ophthalmology. 30 students study every year. Now steps are being taken to introduce B Sc Ophthalmology. Recommendations are being sent to State Government for approval. We are planning to begin this course in this academic year. 20 students will be admitted in this course.�
