Letika Saran reappointed TN DGP

The Tamil Nadu government has reappointed Letika Saran as the state director general of police.
First time in state police chief has been appointed by UPSC as laid down by Supreme Court
Earlier Lathika Saran appointment had been declined by Madras High Court on the failed to follow Supreme Court guidelines according to which UPSC should shortlist three names from a panel of names sent by the state government.
After Supreme Court declined to stay High Court order,the TN Goverment sent a set of names, includes lethika Saran.Out of this, UPSC cleared three names. The government has now reappointed the 58-year-old Saran.
