It has been decided to demolish Shanthi Theatre: Actor Prabhu

Shivaji Ganesan�s theatre Shanthi in Chennai is to be demolished and a commercial complex will be built in that place. The complex, constructed by G Umapathy in 1956-57 and later bought over by Sivaji Ganesan`s family, will be replaced by a three-screen multiplex that would double up as a virtual gaming centre and retail hub. G Prabhu, said the actor-family has entered into the joint venture as Akshaya has the expertise in real estate development. But the family�s business is closely knit with the entertainment industry and the new project will be an �entertainment centre�.
