A five day training program for the veterinarians and Biologists started atSPARK – single analysis record keeping system and ARKS – Animal Record Keeping System Veterinarians and bilogists from Tamilnadu at B.S. Abdur Rahman University, Vandalur, here on Monday. The programs are conducted by resource persons from International Species Information System would conduct the training programme. SPARK deals with single species available in all zoos across the country and the ARKS deals with many animals in a particular zoo. The softwares are for the purpose of maintaining proper datas on the animals in the zoo. The information programmed will include genetic diversity, demographical profile, stud book data validations, captive population management, editing records groups and reports.
Laurie Bingaman Lackey, Wildlife Biologist from the International Species Information System (ISIS), who conducted the program said that the softwares would be useful in tracking the animals in the ZOO and biologist would be able to keep track of the number species in the park.
