TAMBARAM IAF INSTITUTE TO CELEBRATE PLATINUM JUBILEE

The Mechanical Training Institute of IAF in Chennai is an important training establishment in Indian Air Force. The Institute has the history of having trained and contributed significantly by producing several thousand qualified Airmen according to Air Commodore Sanjay Sharma, Air Officer Commanding, IAF Station, Tambar am.

 Air Commodore was addressing the media in the course of the platinum jubilee (75 years) celebrations of the Institute. Air Commodore Sanjay Sharma said it that The Mechanical Training Institute in Tambaram is only one of its kind in Indian Air Force. The institute imparts training to Airmen in propulsion, structures and weaponry in line with the ever changing requirements of IAF.

The Insdtitute was originally known as Ground Training School, later named as Mechanical training Institute in 1980. 

 Apart from Airmen from India , even people from East Asian and African nations were also trained here. Air Commodore Sanjay Sharma also released ‘Yaanthriki` a coffee table book in Hindi. Group Caption A.K.Verma, Commanding Officer, MTI, was present.
