Will there be a metro rail for the IT Corridor

In the recent times the OMR is choked with traffic because of the increasing vehicle population. Many of the employees who work in this corridor suggest that it would be better for them if the metro rail is linked or extended from St Thomas Mount. We hear that Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) will soon appoint a consultant to study and suggest other possible corridors where the Metro Rail network can be expanded to. One of the former directors of National Transportation Planning and Research Centre had mentioned, “The IT corridor could certainly do with a Metro Rail network as it has good volume of traffic.”
On the whole, even if the Metro Rail is provided in the IT corridor, it would be worth full only if other modes of transport are efficiently linked.
