Transport Employees Unions announce strike during 1st week of March!

Transport employees� unions have been demanding an early settlement of the Transport Employees� 12th wage agreement and went on strike.
A 12-member committee appointed by the state government had discussions with the unions on 11th February. Applications from 42 unions were received. Hence, the discussions could not be conducted.
A special meeting regarding the transport employees grievances and problems was conducted yesterday (16th February) at the workshop at Chennai Pallavan Road. All unions� representatives participated. They demanded that the discussions should start by 5.00 PM. However, this was not possible. As a result, the unions announced their decision to go on strike.
They would go on strike from 3rd March or after that.
