In reverence of lord Shiva, the festival of Maha Shivaratri is celebrated every year. This is the day Shiva got married to Parvati. This festival which is widely called Shivaratri falls on the 13th night or 14th day in Krishna Paksha of the year. This year it falls on 17th February.
