MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA IS LOOKING AT TAMILNADU FOR ITS NEXT PLANT

Mahindra and Mahindra, India’s tractor major, which is selling ‘Swaraj’ brand of tractors, is contemplating setting up its plant in Taminadu as a part of its scaling up production. This has necessitated by the growing demand of M & M. The new plant is planned to manufacture one lakh tractors at an investment of Rupess 600 Crores. According to Pawan Goenka, The President, automotive and farm-equipment sector, M & M that they would announce the news with location detail by close to this year end. The Company produces annually one lakh tractors in Rudrapur, Kandivli, Nagpur and Jaipur plants and 60,000 units of Swaraj at its Mohali unit.  The company is slated to produce tractors with a capacity ranging between 30 and 50 HP. the category which suffered a volume dip in the recent past.  With rural purchasing power is rising primarily by good monsoon the tractor sales expected to go up more than 100% in the current financial year.
