Southern Region Bulk LPG Transport Operators Association comprising 3,200 tanker owners went on a strike on Saturday demanding higher rates for transportation from the public sector oil companies� � IOC, HPC and BPC. They are on strike from midnight of 31st.
The transport association and the oil companies are to meet government representatives from the food and civil supplies department for tripartite talks to resolve the issue. Earlier three rounds of talks had failed between the transport association and oil company representatives.
It is expected that they will withdraw the strike after compromise talks on Monday.
