Corporation workers will work only one shift

Chennai Corporation workers, who were working two shifts from 6.30am to 1.30pm and 2pm to 5.30pm, have been asking for a single shift since 2001. On Thursday, the corporation council adopted a resolution to reduce working hours. While the workers will now work only in the morning shift, a `reserve force` will take up cleaning from 1.30pm to 7.30pm.
