There is a remarkable reduction in the prices of vegetables following the arrival in large quantities in Koyambedu.
A kg of beans cost Rs. 80/- around 2 months ago. Now, it costs only Rs. 15/- per kg. Broad beans which sold at Rs. Rs.60/- per kg now sells at Rs.25/- per kg.
The prices of onion & tomato have also gone down.
The traders attributed this to the extra quantity of vegetables reaching Koyambedu and expect this trend of falling vegetable prices to continue for a month.
