Alarming report on the quality of Chennai metro water

City corporation has come up with an alarming report on water supplied in neighbourhoods of northern Chennai stating most volume of water in circulation are completely unfit for consumption. Water samples tested in these areas were found to contain disease causing germs and toxic substances.
Over 22 water samples were collected from Madhavaram zone and testing process had been ongoing since 2012. These test results say over 12 such samples are totally unfit to drink. Disgustingly, four of these samples contained E-coli and coliform bacteria the source of which is human or animal faeces! Furthermore, 10 out of 22 were declared unfit for consumption.
Similar samples were collected from Tondiarpet zone in 2014-15. Out of 499 such samples, 157 were declared unfit for consumption. With huge inflow of complaints on poor quality of metro water in Thiruvottiyur, Royapuram and Manali zones, these are in no way exceptional with the quality of water.
