Ingredients:
- Raw Rice – 200 gram
- Moong Dal – 50 gram
- Onion – 2 nos
- Tomato – 2 nos
- Garam Masala powder – ½ spoon
- Green Chilli – 1 nos
- Turmeric powder – ¼ spoon
- Sambar Powder – ½ spoon
- Salt – To taste
- Oil – 5 spoon
- Curry Leaves – a few
- Mustard seeds – ½ spoon
- Water – 3 cups
- Ghee – 1 spoon
- Coriander leaves – a few
Method:
- Wash rice and moong dal and soak it in water for half an hour.
- Heat the pan and add oil to it.
- Now add the mustard seeds, curry leaves, slitted green chilli.
- Add the chopped onion and tomato one after the other and sauté it for 2 minutes till tomato shrinks and raw smell leaves.
- Now add turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt to taste and mix well. Now add the Garam masala (which is nothing but the grinded powder of glove, cinnamon and cardamom).
- Mix well and sauté it for 1 minute.
- Now add the required quantity of water. (For 1 glass of ration of both rice and dal, add 2 1/2 glass of water). Then add soaked Rice and Moongdal.
- Pressure cook the dish for about 3 whistles, so that ingredients will become mushy.
- Wait for some time for the pressure to get release and stir it well and add a spoon of ghee to it.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
Note:
- You can eat this rice kichadi even without any dishes. Else it can go well with curd salad and papads.
- This is a simple and easy dish. It won’t consume more time. You can prepare this fast and healthy food within 10 minutes without being dropping in the hotels.
- Always prepare this dish with less spice, so that both children and old people can like it very much.
- To make this dish even healthier and colourful, you can very well vegetables like carrot, beans, potato and so on.
- Those who hate masala taste, you can better avoid adding Garam masala power.
