50 emergency exits in Tirumangalam-Central underground Metro Rail section

With tunneling work nearing completion in the Tirumangalam-Central underground Metro Rail section, work is underway to start the construction of emergency exits between stations.
According to an official, 50 such exists will be constructed on either side of the tracks. There will be one such exit every 250 meters, he said.
The exit tunnels will have a diameter of 3.5 meters, will be 8 meters long and will be wide enough for the passengers to exit to safely in caseof an emergency.
One such exit tunnel was completed last week near Nehru Park Station.
