PM’s Jandhan Scheme: 10 Crore Savings Accounts to be opened before January 2015!

The central government has set an increased target for opening savings accounts under the Prime Minister’s Jandhan scheme from the original 7.5 Crores to 10 crores.
Jandhan scheme is being implemented with the main purpose being that there should be at least one savings account for each family and that there should be no families without savings account.
The scheme was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, on 28th August. An initial target was set for opening 7.5 crore savings account before 26th January.
Since the scheme has turned out to be hugely popular, the central government is optimistic to complete the target of 7.5 Crores before January.
Hence, it has revised the target to 10 Crores savings accounts to be opened before January.
