Commuters can now travel to Arakkonam and Tiruvallur from Chepauk, Mylapore, Mandaveli, Indira Nagar and Taramani

From Friday , six trains on the Arakkonam-Beach line and two on the Sullurpet-Beach line will be extended to Velachery . This includes a ladies special from Arakkonam at 7am.
Commuters can now travel to Arakkonam and Tiruvallur from Chepauk, Mylapore, Mandaveli, Indira Nagar and Taramani on the MRTS line without changing over to another train at Beach station.
The move follows a longpending demand of those who change over from suburban to MRTS trains and vice versa at Beach station. More than 20,000 commuters will benefit as they won`t have to wait for connecting trains.
The 7.05am Ponneri-Chennai Beach local, the 7.25am Sullurpet-Chennai Beach local, the 7.40am Avadi-Chennai Beach local and the 7am Arakkonam-Chennai Beach ladies special will go to Velachery.
In the return direction, the 11.20am Velachery-Chennai Beach local will run till Tiruttani and the 5.15pm Velachery-Chennai Beach ladies special will go till Arakkonam, while the 7.30pm Velachery-Chennai Beach local and the 8.50pm Velachery-Beach local will run up to Avadi. Commuters boarding the Arakkonam-Chennai Beach ladies special at 7am need no longer worry about missing the connecting train to Velachery . From Friday , they can travel all the way to the South Chennai destination in the same train.
