Chennai traffic police makes a new move to prevent fleecing activities by auto drivers

Here is a new move by the Chennai traffic police. They now have plans to display the new autorickshaw fare cards at highly visible spots of city’s railway stations. This step is believed to impart necessary awareness about a benchmark on the auto fares in the city, especially for those who visit Chennai central or Egmore from other states.
According to S.Panneerselvam, deputy commissioner, traffic, Chennai west, traffic police personnel are engaged in guiding commuters about prepaid booths. Further, police also insist passengers to demand auto drivers for the fare card. This will help them in knowing the exact price for traveling to a particular distance. In addition, they also keep them informed of the helpline numbers of traffic police and transport department.
