Posted on: 22/Nov/2014 2:22:48 PM
Central ministry of Human resources welfare development has taken a sudden decision to reintroduce public examinations for CBSE 10th Standards students.

There are about 500 schools under CBSE syllabus in South Region.

There are 150 schools in Tamil Nadu.

CBSE syllabus is based on NCERT (National Council For Education, Research and Training).

About 1 Lakh students write 10th & 12th Examinations in Tamil Nadu.

Mr. Kapil Sibal, the Minister for Education in the previous UPA government took the decision that there will be no public examinations for 10th Standard and subsequently, Public Examinations for 10th Standard were cancelled from the year 2011. Option was available for the students interested in higher studies to write the public exams.

Thus, there were no public exams for 10th Standard for the last 3 years.

However, the new government headed by BJP has considered that not writing the Public Exam in 10th Standard is likely to affect the quality of the higher education and it is necessary to reintroduce the same.

The government has been exploring the possibilities of reintroducing Public Exams in 10th Standard. Hence, it is expected the students of 10th Standards may have to write Public Exams for this year.
