Insufficient number of child cardiologists in TN

Tamil Nadu has increasing number of children with heart disease. It is found that 8 out of every 1000 children are born with any heart trouble. Worsening this state is the insufficient number of pediatric cardiologists in TN. According to doctors, there is a huge difference between the cardiology treatment given to adults and children. To say it simpler, it�s like the expertise required repairing a wall clock and a wrist watch. Treating heart troubles in children needs unique expertise and skill sets and immense training as well.
Speaking to one of the city cardiologists, he says the size of a child�s heart is of an orange�s size. Though we can say that the method of treating a child�s heart is similar to that of an adult, specifically designed intensive care unit is required for children. In most cases of heart troubles in children, it is the trouble with the heart structure, whereas in adults, it is mainly due to coronary heart diseases caused by lifestyle changes. In most cases of children, they suffer with congenital heart disease which will most likely require a surgery.
