The city police have asked malls to step up security.Police on Friday conducted a review meeting attended by 70 representatives of shopping malls, multiplexes and commercial complexes after a warning from the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Police found that there has been a 30% increase in the number of security cameras installed in multiplexes and malls in the city , but suggested that more needs to be done. Police have asked malls and multi plexes to increase the strength of their security personnel by at least 15% and to provide details of security personnel involved in checking vis itors to the local police station. They will have to verify the antecedents of their employees before recruitment.
Police advised all owners to set up bigger screens to monitor security camera footage on a real-time basis and directed them to give their securi ty personnel adequate training. Malls will also prepare proper evacuation plans in case of emergencies and con duct mock drills for staff to practise the plan with the help of police.
