The Electricity Department has cautioned the public to be careful while handling electrical equipment during the monsoon season.
- Ensure that the internal wiring is done only by agencies approved by the government.
- Use only ISI approved equipment.
- Switch off the equipment before and after use.
- Use only 3-pin plug connection for fridge, grinder, etc.
- Keep these plug connections beyond the reach of young children.
- If any leakage is detected, switch off the main connection immediately.
- Ensure that the cable TV wires are not taken very near the overhead power cables.
- Check the wiring conditions at least once in every 5 years and change whatever necessary.
- Do not run ropes for drying clothes on the stay wires of Electricity Department.
- Avoid installing switches in damp areas such as toilets & bathrooms.
- Contact Electricity Board officers for removing tree branches near overhead cables.
- In the event of fire while operating electrical equipment, use dry sand, blankets, and fire-extinguishers - do not use water to extinguish fire.
- If any thunder & lighting occur, avoid standing under huts, trees, open areas, and water-logged areas. Take shelter in large concrete buildings or vehicles covered by metallic tops.
- Do not use TV, Mixie, computer, and telephone during thunder & lightning.
