Recent information gathered is about the central government exploring the possibilities of relaxation in the regulations of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) today.
There is a current regulation that the minimum construction area should be 50000 sq metres to allow foreign direct investment.
There was a proposal made by the construction industry requesting this to be reduced to a minimum construction area of 24000 sq metres instead of existing 50000 sq metres.
The proposal also requested for the current stipulation of a minimum investment amount of Rs. 60 Crores to be reduced to Rs. 30 Crores.
The segment of Industrial Policy & Growth under the ministry of Commerce has expressed that the acceptance and approval of the above proposals will boost the FDI in the construction to a higher level paving the way for excellent growth in the construction industry.
