‘Udan’ a special scheme is derived by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) intended to help girl children have more focus on pursuing higher studies in engineering colleges. CBSE’s ‘Udan’ will provide girl children with online resources, tutorials, study materials and lectures for students studying in 11th and 12th standard.

This scheme comes with an exclusive advantage of redeeming fees. According to this, marks obtained by the students can be converted as reward points which can be later used to redeem frees from IITs and NITs. During its initial stage, CBSC will admit only 1000 students out of which 50% will be allotted for students from SC, ST or backward classes.

Speaking to CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi, he says girl children are less in number in higher education. This is a huge disadvantage. Udan is intended to eliminate this and bring forth betterment in education for girl children. This will also help in helping them develop good leadership skills, he added.
