At the ‘Makkalai Thedi` programme, a total of 861 petitions on various issues were submitted to the Mayor. It includes those seeking pension, jobs, financial assistance for surgeries, house pattas and property tax assessments. A total of 365 petitions were addressed on the spot.
The Mayor directed Revenue Department officials to include a two-month-old girl baby, Richithadevi, in the Chief Minister`s Health Insurance Scheme and provide assistance for her heart surgery. The baby, daughter of M.Sanglimuthu and S.Priyadharsini living in Tondiarpet, has a hole in her heart since birth. He said two projects being undertaken by the Chennai Metro water in Royapuram – construction of an overhead tank with a capacity of 28 lakh litre and the laying of water pipelines – would be completed in four months.
