Coastal clean-up on 27 Sept

The sixth edition of the International Coastal Clean Up (ICC 2014), organised jointly by the Chennai branch of Indian Maritime Foundation and US Ocean Conservancy, will be held on 27 September, at various locations. This year�s chapter hopes to cover up to 350 kilometres along the coastal belt of Karnataka, Kerala,Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Puducherry, with over 4,500 volunteers, besides public participants.
Volunteers will walk up the entire allotted block to collect debris and will cull out a trash data sheet. The volunteers will be allotted with a clean-up kit for safe handling and disposal. The information gathered will guide and influence governments, corporations, local bodies and industries to develop smart solutions to tackle the marine debris problem.
