With people starting to find a land far away from the city, the second phase of outer ring road that connects Nemilichery and Thiruvottiyur is about to commence. The project running through a stretch of 32 km is by September 2016. Land acquisition process is almost over and 99 per cent of it is complete and the physical works are already started, said a Tamil Nadu Road Development Corporation official. He also added that the road laying works and construction of grade separators are started too.
The required land area for the second phase of project is 278.25 hectares and the overall estimation is Rs 1,075 crore.
To add, the first phase of the project stretching from Vandalur to Nemilichery was recently opened for the public�s use. Approximate cost of this project is Rs 2000 crore. This 62 km 6-lane corridor is exclusively laid for heavy vehicles to travel free of traffic on the Inner Ring Road and Chennai Bypass.
