With an exponential growth seen in the domestic tourism market, it is likely that there will be multiple avenues in travel trade sector. Backing this emerging avenues, the Travel Agents Federation of India has plans to trigger huge domestic tourism market potential for the members.
Considering the year 2013, our country received 69.7 lakh foreign tourists. At the same time, there were 1.663 crore Indians who left the country to exotic foreign destination in the same year. Overall earnings from the tourism of the country was Rs 1,07,671 crore in 2013.
On enquiring a senior tourism official, he says the revenue of the country would increase with the increase in number of international visitors. He added that the domestic tourism is likely to increase with various initiatives by the government.
To note, there were 65.8 lakh foreign tourists in the year 2012 and the number of Indians who visited other countries is 1.492 crore.
