Chennaites beware of viral fever

Showers over the past week have resulted in a spike in viral fever and other viral infections in the city. There has been a steep rise in the number of viral fever cases as well as gastrointestinal issues. Doctors said patients have fever, running nose, sore throat, joint pain and gastroenteritis.
 
Viruses spread rapidly in a cool and damp atmosphere and as a result there were more cases of viral fevers during the monsoon, said experts. The doctors say that the change in weather was a reason. 

Specialists suggest including more vegetables and high protein in the diet. "It is essential to keep one`s surroundings clean, use mosquito nets, drink boiled water to stay hydrated and eat fresh home cooked food to keep viral infections at bay.
