Nemeli desalination plant under repair ďż˝ affects South Chennai drinking water distribution

The production at the desalination plant at Nemeli is down due to some repairs since last 3 days. Hence, drinking water distribution at Thiruvanmiyur, Velacherry, Pallippattu and other nearby areas is affected.
As the water from Krishna River (Andhra Pradesh) is stopped, the water supply from Nemeli desalination plant has become critical. Hence the repair affecting the supply has affected the public in South Chennai areas.
An official explained there were no technical problems in the production from the desalination plant. As the power was cut off due to some repair work by TANGEDCO, distribution was affected. The official added that even though distribution from the desalination plant is affected, alternative arrangements have been made.
