Escort services by RPF staff in EMU trains extended upto Chengalpattu

In order to provide security to passengers, especially women, travelling beyond Tambaram upto Chengalpattu by EMU trains, escort services by RPF staff in EMU trains have been extended upto Chengalpattu in Chennai Beach � Chengalpattu section.
Earlier, 96 EMU trains running during night hours were being escorted by RPF staff from Chennai Beach to Tambaram. To provide security even beyond Tambaram, upto Chengalpattu, the escorting was extended upto Chengalpattu w.e.f. 10.06.2014. After this extension in escorting, crimes against passengers have come down in the section. Further, the jurisdictional RPF Inspectors have been advised to take all preventive measures against theft of passenger belongings in trains and stations in co-ordination with GRP (Government Railway Police) and local police.
