There prevails a real calamity for the State power utility, TNEB on hand. Few days after the announcement of the State government on ‘End to Outages’, several regions of TamilNadu faces unscheduled power cuts on Tuesday and Wednesday.
For the past two days, the deficit has touched 2,000MW and hence many parts of TN experiences 4 to 6 hours power cuts. Reason behind the power cuts was that many state thermal plants were blackout for yearly maintenance.

But now, the power production in the thermal plant in north Chennai has slightly made the situation better and wind energy reaches 2,600 MW.

The units in north Chennai were been closed for maintenance. The unit in Tuticorin which is having a volume capacity of 210MW is still facing the yearly repair. On Tuesday, the lack of power during morning hours stays 2,017 MW and in evening it was 1,981MW, says TNEB official.

Down with the state units, the unit of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project was also dip in the last 10 days owing to tripping.

Many parts of Madurai, Salem, and Coimbatore experienced unscheduled outages, which bangs many small and medium scale industries.

Over reliance on irregular wind power flow is the chief cause for the present calamity. If the wind power production relic’s constant more than 2500MW, then only outages can be avoided, says an expert on state of secrecy.
