Document Verification for Passport Applications – Delay in Getting Timeslots!

Passport applicants are facing lot of struggle in getting online timeslots for their document verification process.
For the past few years, once the passport application is registered via online, applicants will be getting their timeslots immediately for their document verification procedures.
Owing to the private organization part been majorly involved in the issuance of passport in the recent years, the issuance of timeslots online for document verification has been handled separately.
There has been a limited timeslots allotted on the daily basis. Hence passport applications registered on the same will not get the timeslots on the same day. People are forced to continuously struggle for 3 to 5 days to get their timeslots.
The hectic scheduled applicants who cannot trace the online timeslots continuously are seeking the private agents to get their timeslots. And these agents are exploiting this opportunity and collecting Rs.500 to Rs.1000 per application.
Presently, owing to this online timeslot procedure, people are facing wastage in time and money. Hence people seek officials, to bring the old procedure of getting the timeslots immediately after the submission of the passport applications, so as to avoid discomforts.
Report by Chennai Regional Passport Office Authority stated:
In the present procedure of getting online timeslots, at a time three applications can get the online timeslot per system. This facility has been evolved to reduce the interference of the private agents. Due to discomforts, we have involved in the process of bring back the old timeslot system.
