Last day of ‘Agni Nasksahatram’ today! Gradual reduction in temperature & prospects of start of rains

The most scorching part of the summer, ‘Agni Nakshatram’ or ‘Kathiri Veyil’ gets over today.
The high temperature is expected to reduce gradually with the prospects of starting of rains.
‘Kathiri Veyil’
Kathiri veyil started on 4th May, quite surprisingly with a rainy beginning. However, the temperature started soaring in the subsequent days with the people experiencing scorching and unbearable heat. The temperature exceeded 100 degrees fahrenheit on most days.
In Chennai & Vellore, the temperature touched over 105 degrees fahrenheit piling agony on the people. Chennai recorded the highest temperature of 109 Degrees fahrenheit on 23rd May. This was a record high for the last 10 years. Most people avoided going out in the scorching sun. Even the children preferred to spend time watching TV in their house to going out & playing.

The 24 days of scorching heat during Agni Nasksahatram is getting over today, Wednesday (28th May). Chennai Meteorological Department has announced that the high temperature will reduce gradually. Southwest monsoon is expected to start by the 1st week of June. With the onset of southwest monsoon, the temperature will reduce considerably.
In the last stage of Agni Nasksahatram, the temperature crossed 100 degrees fahrenheit in Chennai, Trichy, & Vellore. The highest temperature recorded at Meenambakkam, Chennai was 101.84 degrees fahrenheit.
