Expecting Rainfall across TamilNadu, due to Convection!

Posted on: 26/May/2014 11:16:59 AM
Because of the continuous state of dry climate and the air cycle formed in the top layer of the atmosphere, there is a chance of getting rainfall today in Chennai, stated the Chennai Regional Meteorological department.

Two days before, the low pressure zone has been formed in the Middle East sea part of the Bay of Bengal. On 23rd May, this pressure zone got weakened and move towards Southwest direction. Hence because of this, few coastal regions received light rainfall.

Moreover, dry climate has been faced by many inner TamilNadu regions. Thus it accounts for convection and in turn it based the foundation for the air cycle formation in the top layer of the atmosphere. As a result, TamilNadu faced widespread rainfall. Few places received thunderstorm rainfall.

Yesterday, a maximum of about 70 mm rainfall has been registered in Mayanur, Krishnarayapuram, Krishnagiri and Udagamandalam; about 60mm rainfall recorded in Kolachal, Trichy, Samayapuram; 50mm rainfall in Perambalur, Aathur, Devi Mangalam, Kalakurichi; 40mm rainfall in Thozuthur, Harur, Keeranur, Raniyal; 30mm rainfall in Kancheepuram, Chettykulam, Thogamalai, Oothangarai, Vazapadi, Sethangulam and Devakotai.

In this case, a maximum temperature of 108 degree celsius has been recorded in Tiruthani, TamilNadu; 106 degree celsius in Chennai; 102 degree celsius in Pondicherry, Thanjavur;100 degree celsius in Vellore. Hence because of this, the convection will still extend in TamilNadu.

TamilNadu and Pondicherry will receive widespread rainfall today and few places might receive thunderstorm rainfall.
