With the failure of 5 Power generation Units, Tamil Nadu’s shortage of power increases to 13000 MW!

5 power generation units in Tamil Nadu, including Koodamkulam, Tuticorin,and North Chennai have failed creating a shortfall of 2130MW.
TANGEDCO has managed this shortfall with the power from wind-power generating stations.
Tamil Nadu required 1500 to 2000 MW daily. TANGEDCO has managed so far with the generation from the wind-power stations and depending on the day-to-day generation position .It managed without major power-cuts over the last 1 month.
However, there have been increased power-cuts over the last few days. This is because of the failure of some of the power generating units including Koodamkulam.
As on Thurday (22nd May) afternoon, power generation has been affected in Koodamkulam, Ennore, North Chennai, Neyvelai, and Tutricorin.
Due to some testing procedure being conducted, the generation at Koodamkulam stands affected. 170 MW from 2 units at Ennore, 600 MW from the North Chennai expansion project, 150 MW from Neyvali, and 210 MW from Tuticorin are the shortfalls from different power stations. These are expected to be back in service before 23rd May.
11,583 MW of power (280 million units) was being distributed as on 22nd afternoon. The shortfall was adjusted by enforcing 1-hour power0cuts in some factories in some districts.
Meanwhile, the generation touched 12,955 MW on 16th May. However, there has been a sudden rise in demand to 12,799 MW from January.
