14 railway stations to have high security

Southern Railway has stepped up security in 14 major stations across Tamil Nadu by installing additional closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras after May 1 blasts on Bangalore-Guwahati Express at Chennai Central.
These cameras will be networked and monitored round the clock.
This followed the twin bomb blasts on the Bangalore-Guwahati Express at Chennai Central on May 1, which left one passenger dead and 14 others injured.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday after inspecting the Peelamedu station, General Manager Mr. Misra said Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai were among the stations where security was enhanced.
Mr. Misra said that additional safety measures like increasing the number of security personnel were also initiated.
