Private operators raise the pre-paid rates! Customers complain!

There is a complaint that all private operators have raised their charges for pre-paid plans.
The new fares will be effective from 1st May. It has caused a lot of confusion among the customers.
1,19,00,000 Crore individuals use mobile phones in Chennai. 80% of these customers use the pre-paid mode of payment.
88% of the customers from Airtel, Aircel, & Vodafone use pre-paid mode..
Only 12% use public service providers such as BSNL.
Genreally, there is a procedure that any changes in the plan of operation should be informed prior to implementation.
However, most private operators or service providers do not follow this norm. Recently, the rates have been revised upwards by many private service providers. Pre-paid plan charges have been raised from Rs. 10/- to Rs, 60 according to the plans.. Also, call-time has been reduced.
As this has been done without prior information, there has been a serious disputed between the private service providers & their customers.
A senior Airtel official informed:
We are keeping the customers informed as per the rules laid out by TRAI. However, it may not be possible to inform about all changes to every customer. So, we have followed the procedure of informing the changes to different customers according to the category. Any how, we will examine the complaints received so far.
