15 New Hospitals with 100 beds!

Chennai Corporation has planned to build 15 new hospitals with a capacity of 100 beds.

Central government is implementing the `Urban Health Mission` in order to improve urban health amenities.

This program is carried out throughout India and amenities are being provided according to the population in different cities.

The plan has been started for implementation in Chennai city. Accordingly, details of how many additional hospitals are required, the related cost aspects were gathered. 

In the first stage, 140 primary health centres will be provided. Hospitals will be built with a capacity for 100 beds.

The corporation officials informed:

Rs. 42 Crores has been budgeted for this years urbasn health mission.  It is planned to construct 142 primary health centres using this. 100 already existing primary health centres will be renovated with latest amenities. 

For the balance 40, old or new locations will be decided. 15 new hospitals will be built with 100 beds capacity.

Currently, Family Welfare Centres & primary health centres operate independently. This is likely to be merged for better and immediate medical treatment.Doctors & nurses will be appointed.

There are 19 emergency Child-delivery hospitals in Chennai.out of these, 7 hospitals will be up-graded to a capacity of 100 beds. The balance 8 are planned to be shifted to a new place.

Inward patients will be given treatment in these hospitals. This will help the larger governmental hospitals as the patients with serious complaints will go to them & patients with minor complaints will be treated here.

For in ward patients with minor complaints, treatment will be provided.

This will reduce the number of patients visiting the larger government hospitals as only patients with major illnesses will go there.
