Additional Director-General of Police (Prisons) S. George is back as the Commissioner of Police, Chennai. A day after the Model Code of Conduct was withdrawn, the State government issued orders posting the 1984-batch IPS officer as the new Police Commissioner.
He replaces J.K. Tripathy, who has been transferred and posted as ADGP, Prisons.
In the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission ordered the transfer of Mr. George on April 7. In his earlier stint, he served as the city police chief for over 18 months.
The government also transferred Santhosh Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Namakkal District, and posted him as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters), Chennai Police vice S.R. Senthilkumar posted as Superintendent of Police, Namakkal District.
